Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant will support the Finance department by assisting in keeping financial records updated, preparing reports for Management, analyzing sales reports, and investigating any discrepancies while ensuring appropriate accounting procedure are followed. In this position, the Accounting Assistant will be directly responsible to the Accountant and by extension the Directors.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complying with all generally accepted accounting principles, accounting policies and procedures.
- Performing daily bank reconciliations.
- Performing supplier reconciliation.
- Preparing Accounts Payable related duties – enter bills, prepare, and post payments (cash/cheques/EFTs).
- Verifying and reconciling daily sales reports and updating accounting software.
Performing regular stock counts - Assist with investigating variances in reports and reporting to necessary persons.
Monitoring bank statements and raising any queries regarding entries made to bank account. - Updating monthly sales data to present to Management.
- Providing external auditors with assistance; gathering necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Properly filing all paperwork.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Level 1 ACCA completed or FIA/CAT qualified.
- Accounting experience would be an asset.
- Accounting software experience preferably in QuickBooks and/or Sage.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail oriented individual with great problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Maintains a high level of professionalism
